Zia Lucia Opening in Brook Green

Independent pizzeria, Zia Lucia, is opening a new local restaurant in Brook Green in late January 2018. Following on from the launch of the first Zia Lucia in Islington in 2016, founders Claudio Vescovo and Gianluca D’Angelo are bringing their authentic Italian neighbourhood pizzeria to this leafy part of West London, an area close to their hearts.

At the forefront of London’s pizza renaissance, Zia Lucia’s first independent pizzeria on Holloway Road brought unusual doughs, delectable toppings and Italian community flair to North London and has been a huge hit with locals and visitors ever since. Zia Lucia has become renowned for its impressive selection of 48-hour slow-fermented doughs, including traditional white flour, earthy wholemeal, crisp gluten free and a dramatic vegetable charcoal black base. For the launch month, Zia Lucia will add a limited edition, green vegetable dough to the menu. Named after their new neighbourhood, the ‘Brook Green Dough’ will be a healthy winter addition to a constantly evolving pizza selection, with playful and experimental doughs frequently added by Zia Lucia’s creative pizzaioli.

Zia Lucia is run by a team of passionate Italians: founders, friends and former West London residents, Claudio and Gianluca were keen to bring their successful pizzeria back to their favourite pocket of West London, much to the delight of local friends and family.

Claudio describes the decision to bring Zia Lucia to Brook Green: ‘Gianluca and I used to live in the area, it is where we met and we still have plenty of friends there who have been crying out for our pizzas.”

Gianluca adds: “The area embraces our “neighbourhood” spirit and we hope to become the go-to destination for pizzalovers in the West End”.

Zia Lucia, translates as 'Auntie Lucia' and the restaurant is inspired and named after Gianluca’s very own aunt. A fantastic cook and generous host, Lucia is both the inspiration behind the brand and an investor in the restaurant. Entirely friend and family-funded, Zia Lucia’s shareholders are personally involved in the success of the restaurant.

Maintaining its ethos of great value genuine Italian food, all wood-fired pizzas at Zia Lucia Brook Green will be priced from £7-£11 and will feature fresh, classic Italian toppings, signature Arianna and Andrea Pirlo pizzas, and will be available on the four types of dough. Toppings range from irresistible Italian favourites such as fiery nduja, spicy spianata salami, truffle honey, burrata, rich gorgonzola and vegan butternut squash cream. The menu will also feature, seasonal specials.

Alongside the pizzas, will be a selection of Italian-style starters, plates, salads and desserts. The drinks menu focuses on spritzes, Zia’s famous Negronis, bottled beers from Italy and locally brewed in London, as well as wine and prosecco sourced from small Italian producers back home.

With a seated capacity of 50, including an outside area, Zia Lucia in Brook Green will share the ingredients and values of its first Islington restaurant, from its unique doughs through to its community ethos, and will bring genuine Italian pizza to West London patrons.
